CEIL’s GOVgreen Conference and Exposition Registration Now Open

Alexandria, VA (July 20, 2011) – The Center for Environmental Innovation and Leadership (CEIL) announced today that registration is open for the second annual GOVgreen Conference and Exposition.

GOVgreen 2011 is the one event where government stakeholders learn how to transform green policies into actionable plans that achieve sustainability goals in all sectors—including facilities, energy, conservation and transportation.  GOVgreen 2011 is based in DC—easily accessible to federal and military decision makers—and offers education and exhibits free to federal employees.  The exhibit hall is free to all.

The 25 educational sessions are programmed in the following tracks:

  • Procurement, Contracting and Financing
  • Workplace and Workforce
  • Policies, Planning and Implementation
  • Measuring, Tracking and Reporting

Educational sessions include panel discussions and presentations and the conference faculty is drawn from the federal government (80%), private sector and academia.  In addition, there is a plenary session and keynote presented on the exhibit floor each day.  The plenary—Adapting to Climate Change: Governing in an Era of Uncertainty—is a discussion among national leaders on planning for and providing core services as climate change impacts are realized. Invited speakers include:

  • Senator Jeff Bingaman,
  • Rear Admiral David W. Titley, Oceanographer and Navigator of the Navy, Director, Maritime Domain Awareness and Space (tentatively confirmed),
  • Olga M. Dominguez, Assistant Administrator for Infrastructure and Administration, NASA  (confirmed),
  • Dr. Katharine Jacobs, Assistant Director, Climate Adaptation and Assessment, White House Office of Science and Technology Policy,
  • Dr. Richard Moss, Joint Global Change Research Institute, Pacific Northwest National Lab/University of Maryland

2011 GOVgreen Conference and Exposition highlights include:
