No sooner did the White House signal its intent to reduce federal employee trips than the travel industry was ready to wave the idea good-bye. "This type of arbitrary and across-the-board approach will further economic decline at precisely the wrong time for the more than 2 million Americans whose jobs depend on business travel," Roger Dow, president and CEO of the U.S. Travel Association, said in a news release.
